Physical Therapy is divided into two categories: Occupational and Physical. Occupational therapy is helping one get back to doing the daily activities of their lives. Physical therapy is helping one's muscles, etc. as closely as possible to performing the way they would normally.
The Stonehill physical therapy department has a reputation for being one of the best in the Dubuqueland area. They have a staff that is highly qualified in this field and very dedicated to their profession. They also bring a great sense of humor to their work which helps a patient make it through "tough" but necessary successful treatment. A personal example of this is: During an extremely painful (but absolutely necessary session to get results) Deb and Diane told me to breathe like a mother during child birth! I responded (while in tremendous pain) saying that I feel like I gave birth to triplets!
I have nothing but great respect for these extremely competent therapists and very grateful for the good fortune to be one of their beneficiaries!

Volunteer
The Stonehill Franciscan Services Auxiliary was created in 1980 to provide a way for community volunteers to assist with the vital mission of Stonehill. Begun as a way for families and friends of Stonehill to support the mission of the professional staff, the Auxiliary quickly expanded into a function that is an integral and important part of the entire Stonehill organization. From providing companionship and hosting parties and other events on-site, to raising extra funds for improvements and recognizing key members of the community, the Auxiliary maintains an extensive calendar of functions.
Fundraising is an important Auxiliary function. From the group's first annual contribution of $1,000 in 1982, yearly giving has risen to approximately $7,000 per year. These funds serve a variety of important needs all across the Stonehill facility.
Today's Stonehill Auxiliary is comprised of nearly 100 active members. Major annual events include the Stonehill Benefit Dinner held each fall, St. Patrick's Day luncheon, a variety of Christmas programs, and a "thank you" Appreciation Dinner in November. Throughout the year, the Auxiliary shows its presence all around Stonehill with bake sales, fresh-cut flowers, ice cream socials, and special seasonal luncheons.
Auxiliary
The auxiliary is a dynamic group of volunteers that participate at Stonehill Care Center. Some of the activities they sponsor include the following:
Volunteers such as this provide significant contributions to Stonehill Care Center and for that we are thankful. We encourage community participation in these fundraising events as well as more volunteers.
