Welcome to Stonehill Franciscan Services, I hope you find all the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact us at any time for a tour or if you have questions.
Stonehill Franciscan Services is in its 2nd Century of caring for the elderly in Dubuque and includes three ministries – the Care Center, the Adult Center and Assisi Village. Stonehill was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis and the “spirit of St. Francis” is alive and well today. Stonehill provides a continuum of care and services to residents and families. Stonehill is governed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by the Stonehill Benevolent Foundation, which also has a volunteer board of directors.
Stonehill’s development department raises money every year to support our charity care policy for those who cannot afford the full cost of care. Through various friend raisers including the annual appeal, the year-end appeal and the annual benefit dinner our supporters make it possible to fulfill our mission. Charity care at Stonehill generally exceeds $500,000 each year.
One of the Stonehill advantages is the incredible group of more than 250 volunteers that support us from this community. Whether it’s the volunteers in the coffee shop, the activity or fitness programs, or the chapel - they all make a difference! The auxiliary is another volunteer group of approximately 60 ladies who raise money to support activities for residents in the Care Center with annual events such as the spring fashion show and salad luncheon. There are many other volunteers who contribute but more than I can list here – to all we say thank you!
The Stonehill Care Center includes residential, intermediate and skilled nursing care. Daily mass in the chapel is an important aspect of life at the Care Center and so is regular bible study and rosary service. Our coffee shop is the social hub of the Care Center and is located on the lower level. Expect to find volunteers in the coffee shop to serve you up a cup of coffee, tea or another great snack any morning of the week. Stop in and check out our new skilled nursing unit complete with therapy gym, private rooms and service from professional therapists. The staff who’ve put so much into this area are committed to excellence and offer much care and love to our residents – we are thankful for them all!
The Stonehill Adult Center is a daily respite for many with Alzheimer’s/Dementia disease. We provide care and services daily that include whirlpool baths, meals, and activities/socialization and much more from an experienced staff that includes a nurse on site most every day. We also have a VA contract and can assist with you with funding if you are a veteran.
Assisi Village offers apartments and villas for those who prefer independence in a community setting as well as assistance when it’s needed. Come check out the chapel, fitness center, dining room (3 meals per day are offered), three season rooms with a view, computer room or the hobby room. You might also consider joining a literary luncheon or taking a trip to Galena with the group. Take a look at the pictures on our website but keep in mind they just can’t do justice to the joy and sense of community that residents of Assisi Village bring to each other. We understand that so many want to stay home, however, those who choose to live at Assisi Village make new friends and share a special sense of belonging with each other.
